May I suggest drawing it out rather than using shape tools? Your traditional drawings don't look all that bad, so I think you're a good artist who just needs a little more practise. I'd advise drawing the head and body rather than using circle and line tools, and adding shading to make it stand out. The perspective isn't that bad, though. Why don't you try using guidelines? You'll find those really help.
